Two arrests after stolen car tracked down within 45 minutes

A man who’s car was found within 45 minutes of it being stolen has praised our response after two people were arrested.

It was reported to officers in Great Wyrley at 3.40am on Tuesday (1 July) when a Volvo was stolen on Norton Lane.

The car was later found abandoned in Bloxwich and has been returned to the victim.

After carrying out rapid enquiries, we established that the stolen car was driving in convoy with another car. We stopped the car on the M6 and arrested two people from inside, finding a key that belonged to the stolen Volvo following a search.

A 48-year-old man, from Birmingham, was arrested on suspicion of burglary and car theft. A 71-year-old man, from Warwickshire, was arrested on suspicion of car theft.

Both were questioned in custody and have been bailed with conditions while our enquiries continue.

We’re determined to act robustly against those looking to steal vehicles in Staffordshire.
